Overview

Ceramics is a big part of my life. To learn, I worked as an apprentice with craftsmen in Latvia, Uzbekistan, and Italy, and traveled across Russia to explore local pottery traditions and techniques. At some point, I opened a small studio to start making my own work.

Over the years, I also became interested in Japanese pottery, which led me to learn more about Japanese culture and the language. That influence continues to shape the way I approach my work today.

Inspiration

I’m very inspired by Eastern pottery and traditional firing techniques. I try to mix this with a more modern, experimental way of working with clay.

In my studio back at home I combined research, different materials, and classic craft methods. I like making simple, everyday objects that feel contemporary but are influenced by ancient shapes and aesthetics.

I believe that the process of making things is itself a way of understanding the world
